Mise-en Scene Photography Assingment

What you see when you open the backdoor curtains at night. I tried to express hopelessness, something on the other side of the glass that you can't yet grasp. I set the camera at a higher angle to look down at the subject, I had my hand pressed up against the glass and wanted to be noticed so I wore my only yellow top in the dark and took in mind how the color yellow in shots/films can be interpreted as. It was storming so I used the opportunity to go outside as well as wanted to intensify the colors in the picture so I used editing to saturate it more. I like how the light of the flash reflected off the glass and showed the rain particles cast.

Camera Work Techniques!

Pan Shot:

My experience creating this shot was a lot of fun, I stood against the corner of the wall in my stairwell to film my peer casually walking in a smooth motion.

Tilt Shot:

This one was normal shooting, I moved up and down in a smooth motion while my friend was standing still.

Dolly Shot:

This one took a lot of shots because we kept laughing during the shoot and at some point even recorded him accidentally in slow-motion. I can't show it here but it was really fun. I only moved up close then right back.

Tracking Shot:

This was my favorite camera work so far, I chased my sister across the house as she looked back in terror. It really brightened the night and we laughed a lot.
Handheld Shot:

This one was really silly, I didn't expect my friend to do what he did when I shook the camera in front of his face. It was a pleasant surprise.
Zoom:

Simply one as well, I zoomed in quickly with a smooth motion to get that effect of bam.
Dolly/Reverse Zoom:

This one was difficult to do, we tried many attempts and came down to this version. I gave the audience a step back then a zoom till the camera moved in closer to my friend's face

Boom Shot:

I really enjoyed this one, we had to time it right because we shot this outside the bathrooms which a lot of people come in and out of but we were able to get a shot of my friend going on his phone, to drinking from the water fountain, and finally disappearing into the bathrooms.

Types of Shots, 9/7/2023

These are some photos I took using a variety of different shot types:

🙈

High Angle shot: This angle achieves the perspective of a girl on the floor crying. I planned this by using inspiration to give the viewer the view of a defenseless girl. I used myself and had my sister take the photo from on top of a wooden chair to really get the right shot.

Low Angle Shot: This angle puts the reader in the position as if they're going to be stepped on. The plan for this was to give the viewer a sense of dread, I used myself again and had my sister lay on the floor to get the shot. We thought this was a funny shoot together.

Close-Up Shot: This shot conveys a girl sobbing from something, being up close you can get details of her expressions and hands moving up to her face. I used myself again and wanted to be very expressionate. There was a ton of silly bloopers and I had a blast with this one
Extreme Close Up: This shot is focused on the eyes of the girl, looking off into the distance

Birds Eye View: This angle is high up looking over the girl in the room
Canted Angle: This angle portrays a girl at a party as if she’s dancing, tilted down
Long Shot: This shot allows the reader to see the surroundings inside of the home, the girl welcoming them in
Mid Shot: This shot allows the reader to read the body language of the girl. She seems puzzled by something..
Over the Shoulder Shot: This angle gives the reader the perspective as if they‘re engaged in the conversation, the girl is laughing with a friend.
Point of View Shot: This allows the reader to see the Television through the perspective of glasses
Two Shot: Through this angle you can see two people who seem to know one another because of the fact they are so close to each other and are able to convey that they might’ve just got done with an argument by how the woman is crossing her arms and the man is leaning forward, both looking away.
