[Final Film!]

FINAL FILM!

It is complete... this took us a lot of time, filled with bickering and horrible time management but in the end, we've done it. This was a hard project to achieve but in the end, I'm proud of being able to star in this film and working with my partners in crime. Despite all the bug bites, I was really happy to film this. I'm no actor, but I was willing to put myself in front of the camera to get this film done.

Because we're in a group, we split up the work between everyone. I was the director and main actor in the film whilst my two partners would film and help edit the film. 

In this photo, Addision is editing the film in class. We're discussing ways we can crop and add more things. I'm looking up music/sounds to edit into the film that sound fitting. 

Here is Koby's editing, he's already done alot of the editing for us and now we're just looking through it and seeing what we should cut while using Addision's ideas to put in. Overall, we're working hard into finishing this.

FILM DAY 2!!

this was a photo of us shooting at my house in my kitchen.. the rest shall be explained in the film.

Right after school we met up at the park again to do some reshoots of another idea we wanted in the film to really get that the MC was being followed. 

this was a shot of the day we went, the weather was good but sadly got bit a lot by bugs on my arms and we quickly left right after to continue the shot at my house. Another person joined us and helped with the filming process. Koby like always kept complaining but it was good, hard cause of time crunch but worth it in the end.

Filming Begins!!

The scenery was perfect for our idea, it really encapsulated strange and eerie with the grey weather. I didn't take much photos because I was the M/C and M/C don't got a cell phone sadly. It was beautiful but Koby kept complaining the entire time talking about bug bites while me and Addision were chilling. After we got some delicious beverages.. at steak and shake! We we're craving Chick-fil-a but it was Sunday so they weren't open.

[Filming Prep 2!]

This week was very stressful, I've been caught up with a lot of stuff and haven't been able to focus on anything media related because of this I went into class not even focused on the assignment that our wonderful teacher was talking about. Instead, I focused on a layout of what the roles and plans for our filming to take place. 

Here I had many disagreements with other teammate, Koby. He is aggravating but its hard to schedule 3 peoples times together for this. Yet in the end, decided to meet at the park that Sunday to begin filming. We have ideas for utilizing my house but we aren't set in stone with that idea.

[Filming Prep!]

By creating this storyboard as a group, we discussed the daily routines of our MC's story. My perspective would be to have this shot outside in nature as a field of visionary for the audience to see how everything isn't as it is now or perhaps a new world strange to us.. creating this was an interesting experience considering we had to talk about and discuss it while I was in Orlando and luckily able to make it back in time to present our idea to the class. I thought the little stick figure was a cute addI onto the pictures. lil draft doodle guy. 

Throughout the imagery shots, we'll have the person interacting with their strange surroundings and by the end, something being there with them all along..

Film Opening Research #2 Divergent

 1. One title is displayed during the opening sequences to the film. 

2.  The clear blue skies. The futuristic buildings. The color coordinated outfits the people wear. 

3. The pattern on the people's outfits. The designs on the buildings. The pleasing weather. 

4. The title acts like when the pieces connect simultaneously. The establishing shot shows us the futuristic buildings. 

5. The film establishes an enigma cause it seems like that they are all trapped in one area. They can't go far enough before something happens. 

6. The strategies that are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience are the panning to the architecture. What the people do in their daily life in the place.

7. The technology is being used effectively by the scientists using it to study new things. 

Film Opening Research #1 - Interstellar

 

     1. One title during the opening scene.

  2. There's a bookshelf with a spaceship on it. Later on, there's a person in a spaceship an is struggling to pilot it with the conditions. 

3. The connotations the images carry are the spaceship from the bookshelf to the person in the spaceship. The establishing shot of the person's house shows us where he is living and what's around it. 

4. The genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset because the buildings look futuristic and the vehicles also.

5. The film establishes an enigma because when the pilot is flying it seems like he's going to crash but then it cuts to him waking up from sleeping. 

6. Strategies that are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience are having futuristic objects and places, have different technology, and outfits.

7. It's used differently because it takes place in the future so it's more advanced than the present.

Hello! My name is Thalia Ruiz, I've always found that movies have impacted my life. It's grew me closer to special people in my life and whenever I'm in a bad mood I'd put something on to enjoy in my free time. I'm drawn to action and sci-fi films, especially animation. I've always loved seeing the use of expressions and free-will you can do in animation films. The world of endless possibly and imagination is something I enjoy seeing. Such as the works produced from Studio Ghibli. They're such beautiful works of art as well as Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. The use of the style changes and perspective shots are so creatively brilliant. It has also allowed me to connect with someone I hold dearly to me, my favorite memory is watching it for the first time together and being able to see the second film in theaters. I strive to be able to learn to spend time documenting memories in this class, as my last year in high school, I'll be able to put myself in front of a camera and even record others in a manner of professionalism. 💜
